Chapter 11 recap
Reagent: a reactant added to a specific reaction. Addition (alkenes + Br₂, HCl, HBr, H₂/Pt): the C=C breaks, two atoms add, and it becomes C–C.
Substitution: an atom or group is replaced on the same carbon. Alkane + Br₂ (UV) → bromoalkane + HBr · haloalkane + KOH(aq) → alcohol · alcohol + SOCl₂ → chloroalkane.
